Headless Graphite Steinbergers: Collectible or not?

Similar to what they cost then. Between 1.5 and 2.x grand I think, depending on specifics

That was my impression too. But I recently saw an XL2 in mint condition going for over $5,000.00! And from what I understand, the XL2A is pretty rare...

Here you go. I believe that you'd be thrilled with any one of these three basses. Again, before shipment, Jeff Babicz goes over them in fine detail and takes care of ANY issues, so that on delivery, your bass will play and perform as well as (if not better than) a brand new bass. Please look over these photos and descriptions carefully.
XL2 #4596 White. Newburgh-issue. All original and in wonderful condition. Tiny amount of wear here and there, but overall a beautiful bass.

XL2A #5286 White. Newburgh-issue. All original and stunning. One-owner bass that looks almost new. Factory HAZ Labs active EQ version #1 circuit. Investment grade.
Near-mint $3995
XL2ADB #6219 White. Newburgh-issue. All original. Just arrived. Some minor wear to the hardware. Babicz is doing a full cosmetic restoration of this bass right now. When completed, it will be amazing.
Near-mint $4495
Any of these basses can be ordered with the HAZ active EQ V#2, which has separate controls for treble and bass. All basses will ship with their original factory-logo gig-bag with a new black cotton strap and a copy of Jeff's work-order. Any questions, please let me know.

The bass I most regret getting trading away...and I've had a ton of them...is my old white Steinberger XL2A. I traded it for an Ampeg SVT head and cabinet back in 1989. I still kick myself for making that deal. The bass had Ned Steinberger's signature under the face plate and I've seen similar white XL2As going for $4000 on EBay. I don't know if they're actually getting that much, but I sure wish I had that one back.
I wish Steinberger would re-issue these instruments. I guess there's no market for them new, but there sure seems like a used market for them. If they came out with a new XL2A, I'd definitely buy one...especially a wide 5.

The wide 5 string is so rare that it's almost impossible to find on on offer. And if, it's really expensive.
I Germany you get used 4 strings starting at 1,5k, but these have been on the road for nearly three decades and show the wear. A mint or near mint will not sell for less than two grand - so i'd say yes, these are items that are of interest for a collector.
Huh. I saw an xl2 on my local CL recently for something like $1500 iirc, maybe I'm remembering wrong but I think I considered buying it which means it couldn't have been much higher than that

highly likely. i've seen them go for $1500. & up. i was offered $3k out of the blue for mine about 4yrs ago. lately, the above email exchange puts my bass somewhere around $4k according to the guy who sold it to me 25yrs ago.

Yeah, my XL2A was amazing to record with—it just sat in the track so easily with little to no fuss... But I think it's been 15 years since I last took it out of it's case.
