Headstock crack on potential buy

Yeah... That looks pretty bad, but it is fixable if it decides to completely split. That happened to a buddy of mine, we used wood glue and wrapped whole headstock tightly with twine, let it sit for a few days and never had a problem again. Any major changes in temp or humidity with it and it will probably go.

It may just be the lighting, but the finish on either side of the crack seems to be lighter than the rest of the headstock. That makes me wonder if someone hasn't already tried to repair it. If that's the case, they haven't done it well and repairing a repair is much more hazardous than fixing it right the first time.

I'd pass.

I second this - it looks like it's already gotten some attention and whatever was done didn't solve the problem.

Forget it! Looks like the previous owner is aware of the crack, tried to fix it with less than visually satisfactory results, and is trying to pass the problem to someone else. The flip side though is the repair could have been a strong bond, though esthetically unappealing, but that's the gamble you have to take. I wouldn't if I were in your shoes unless the price is really a steal.
