It's a Kubicky Ex Factor.. It is tuned by the bridge, so it doesn't need tuners in the headstock.
why is the e string so far back and why does it seem that there are two smaller nuts for the e string and what is that thing on the side of the headstock?
The E string can be extended (not downtuned) to D.. Those smaller nuts are the frets, for the D# and the E, and the nut for the D of course..
That weird thing on the upper side of the headstock is the D extender. (or E extender?) well.. it wordk like a capo.
