I had my first rehearsal with my new K&K Bass Master Plus Rockabilly System last night. I also switched over from Goldnslaps + Eurosonics to a set of used Spiro Superflexables. I was using a second hand, maybe third or fourth, possibly even fifth hand, off brand version of a BP-100 and holy crap what a difference!!! I actually heard an accurate representation of my acoustic sound and OH MY GOD it sounded good. It's amazing what one little piece of gear will do for your sound!!
The bridge pick up is just killer. It's got a GREAT sound and really translates the sound of the bass. It is very articulate and really translates the MWAH of the strings. It cuts thru really well.
The neck pickup is awesome as well. Its kind of a niche thing. Unless you're playing rockabilly and want that clicking slap sound you won't find it useful. But it does exactly what it's supposed to do and does it very well.
I'm running my bass thru a GK 800RB and an SWR Goliath II cabinet. The sound is huge and I didn't have any trouble with feedback all night. I'm realllllllyyyy excited to start developing a sound with this set up. I've got two blues gigs next week that are really gonna put it to the test. One set will be all amplified acoustics, think Silvertones and slide and a cocktail kit with brushes, and the other set is a mix of electrics with horns and a full kit. I think it's going to hang just fine. I've been working at getting a DB for the last 5 years so I'm crazy with excitement right now!!!
