Hearing Loss and Ear Plugs

After a particularly loud concert many years ago (Asia and Journey, and sadly, it was so loud that Jonathan's piano was distorting), I bought some Eargasm (yeah, what a name) ear plugs. They filter out the damaging frequencies but keep the others. I can hear someone talking to me fine, just at a lower volume. And in a crowd, all background noise virtually disappears. My very mild tinnitus hasn't gotten any worse since, so they're doing their job.
