This English post-punk band recently released their first EP and seem to have a real shot at massive popularity. We'll see... but I've been listening to them a lot lately.
Here's a recent live show with 3 songs from that EP.
And here's the opening song from that, only in late 2021. Same song, same lyrics, structure and riffs, and yet somehow not nearly as good a song. This year's version has a better arrangement, the important bits sound important, the image is cooler, and the vocals have a ton more confidence.
Go down the rabbithole and find a few 2022 live versions to fill in the steps of the evolution if you want. But I'm increasingly convinced that playing songs live for a year or more even when they're "ready" before recording them for release, or at least spending time trying alternate versions, is generally a good idea. At least if you're doing music that's structure enough to allow it.
But that's just a tangent, mostly just wanted to post about how much I like her and/or their music (Jojo refers to Heartworms as "me" at least sometimes). And it's funny how postpunk has grown into such a big trend and is now popular not just in the Slavic countries.
