Heavy Bass Distortion

The only thing I've heard that sounds right (and I've heard and tried a lot, including parallel routing) is Lemmy's sig Marshall head and the Tech 21 Oxford pedal (I've tried the Blonde and Bddi and they weren't quite there but showed promise.) But for Cliff Burton's"Pulling Teeth" solo, that sounds like a Big Muff but I'm not sure which wah.....

Thanks!

tocs100: I'm going to build a Sansamp GT2 soonish, so I'll give the Samsamp sounds a try (the GT2 has a variety).

spaz21387: thanks, but I absolutely hate the rat sound, and it isn't even close to what I'm trying to achieve. too buzzy, honky.

I'll post again in a few weeks, after I get some more drives to stack.

Oh! I'm getting a Badger Schism back, so this process should become a bit easier soon.

If anyone else has anymore parallel/serial blending advice for achieving the sound I'm after, I'm down for it!

Commenting for a second time to reiterate that I love my TL-2 but that SC-2 demo sounded very nice.

If you want a heavy distortion pedal that's useful on bass, you should check out the digitech hardwire sc-2 valve distortion pedal. this pedal has a transparent but heavy valve-like distortion sounds that sounds phenomenal on bass. I plan to get one myself sometime soon. here's the youtube clip that inspired me to buy this pedal.

Yeah that SC-2 sounds kinda nice. Reminds me a bit of the B3K, but I like the B3K better.

Of course it's hard to compare from one demo.

I'll get that grind tone back in the mix as soon as I can afford it.

Got to sell some more unused photo/music stuff first.

Anyone want an Unpleasant Surprise, or perhaps a tripod head? :)

You're right about one thing. the sc-2 kinda does sound like the b3k in some ways. it does seem to have a similar grinding sound the the b3k has. but of course both pedals are a little different because the b3k has a blend control while the sc-2 only has a low and high control. even though the sc-2 does not have a blend control, that pedal does have excellent bass response(judging from the clip I've found). and that's the beauty part of the hardwire distortion pedals. these pedals are useful on bass. they don't seem to obliterate lows and they deliver killer sounds. cm-2 is considered to be the most popular hardwire pedal to use on bass.
