Double Bass Height of strings at the nut slots near the peg?

Hi,
I'd like to have your advice about which must be the minimum height of strings at the nut slots near the peg.
I always founded that the first F on E string, first Bb on A string, etc.., was very hard to play it because it needs high pressure at the 1st finger. I think that this is not normal, and often tires me.

I realised that the reason of the very strong touch needed, may be the height the strings at their starting point exactly after the nut slots. I measured it and is about 1,2-1,5mm for every string.

I don't know what the recomended height is. What do you think about? Will be a solution to file the slots and lower the strings? If yes, which can be the minimum height?
Thank you all!

I prefer almost no height at all. With the camber being slight and beginning almost up at the nut I cut my slots about the same diameter of each string and you can barely slide a piece of paper under it and touch the nut if at all.

Ken, thanks for your advice, I'm going to borrow some tools and starting lower the slots, I believe it will make a big difference.
