Just stopping by for a quick greeting!
So...where to begin. I've played the cello for nearly 20 years now. After having played for six or seven years, I came across a Squier P/J bass at a garage sale for $30 and figured it was worth a shot. The truss rod was stripped and/or broken and the action was about probably 1/4" too high...less than ideal, but not all that dissimilar from cello, so I went with it. After playing bass for 3-4 years i picked up the electric guitar and that kinda became my "primary" instrument.
Anyways...played EG and EB all thru high school and college. Got to tour the country and a couple of places overseas (as a guitarist at the time) but still played bass quite a bit through random acts and gigs and such. I got out of college and got my first "grown up job" and had some cash to spare and decided to buy a new bass (the old Squier tragically died in a high school "relicing" accident - I was young and dumb, haha). On a whim I picked up a used MIM Deluxe Active Jazz Bass from Guitar Center - hadn't played it, but thought it was a great deal, so I went with it - this was just a couple of years ago and got it shipped with a hard case for only $275. Still had the plastic on the pickguard and the label on the control plate! Anyways.
Kept it bone stock for the past few years, which is weird because I've always been really in to modding and tweaking my equipment - do all my own setups/upgrades, built and sold pedals for a while, modded and repaired tube amps, you name it.
Well, been feeling kind of bored of EG lately and have started to pick up my bass more and decided to start making it my own. Picked up a few small changes (electronics, pickups, etc) and anxious to get them installed and set up in the next few days.
So...ended up rambling a bit there - kind of have a tendency to do that - but happy to have found this great resource!
