Hi Ya'll.
My name is jody. I am from Ga. U.S.A.. Has anyone ever heard of a 3/4 size bass made by "Hans Kroger" this bass is korean, I am assuming it is an el cheapo.... I just acquired this bass for FREE!!. The local school here has given me first pick at all of their band instruments . I was told by a friend that last year they closed a school and hauled away two truck loads of band equipment to the local land fill. So I formed a few contacts and now I have an inside source on all of the equipment that they are going to trash. The school board is closing another school at the end of this school year and I have first choice at any or all of the instruments.

Well back to my question. Has anyone ever heard of this luthier or company. I would just like to know for the simple fact that I can't Find anything on the net that anything to do with "Hans Kroger........

From what I've discovered, Hans Kroger is totally a ficticious name that Southwest Strings here in Tucson made up--it is a Korean made bass, and appears to be an advanced student model bass. It can be a decent sounding bass for its price range, but if you are planning to audition for a symphony orchestra of some sort, you would need something that has a little more sound and spunk to it. I'm still looking for a decent bass that is $3k or less. The Emile Gillet appears to be good--they're at stringemporium.com--check them out
