I've been a bass player since a mate leant me his precision for a few weeks back in the mid-1980s.
I'm far from the world's best but I found hard work and lots of practice can compensate for raw talent! The bands I was in never got beyond local gigs although I've done a couple of tiny festivals a a few mid-size clubs. The high points for me were getting ejected from a band for being too widdly then joining the next one by being able to play like Bruce Foxton
Sadly I haven't been in a band for 22 years :-0 but I've just enhanced my small but perfectly formed collection with a Hohner Jack 5-string. Strangely, I feel my playing has improved during the long gap - my ear is much better and playing more acoustic and electric guitar has kept my fingers flexible.
I've had a few jams over the last year or two so who knows what could happen!
