    Hello everyone!

I’m Brandon, and I’m a bass player living in the Metro Denver Area in Colorado. I started playing bass in September of 2009 when I was a freshman in high school. Before that I started on 6 string guitar, having been inspired by the video game series “Guitar Hero” but also realizing I wanted to play the real thing for real crowds rather than sit and play for a virtual crown on the Xbox all day.

My music teacher suggested I switch to bass because there was an unfilled hole in the school’s jazz band that year, and I agreed thinking it’d be fun. My first bass was a blue Ibanez 4-string (I don’t remember the model name). Then the first day of Jazz band came up in 2010 and I remember being in tears that day because I wasn’t able to wrap my head around playing Jazz and had never read a piece of sheet music in my life. But I resolved to pick up and move forward rather than drop out of the band program and ended up also doing marching band the following year too!

My first band I ever played in was short-lived, but it was with classmates of mine in the band program and we performed in the school talent show in 2010. After than I stayed out of non-school related bands to concentrate in other pursuits yet still playing bass regularly. Eventually through my first three years of college, I slacked on my bass playing because I was mostly living in the dorms and didn’t have a headphone amp, but as my time in college came to a close and I graduated I realized I wasn’t bound by the onslaught of school related work (thank goodness, too) and started getting back into bass heavily again.

I’ve bounced around from some different projects in the last year and a half and never found something solid until I joined my current band, Past Of Ashes. We’ve found some footing and are currently the band’s first album and then moving on to writing something new…

I’ve owned many basses over the years, but I’ve given basses made by Yamaha my attention as of recent, and 3 out of 5 of my basses I use now are Yamahas.

I look forward to being a part of the TalkBass community, and if you’d like to learn about my gear and/or see some of the stuff I’ve done within the past few years you can find some social media links (and my band’s too) in my profile!

    Cheers!
