Hello from eastern Kentucky

Hello! I'm a guitarist of 35 years and a bassist of about ten days. I've owned my bass and amp for probably a couple of years now, but I've never really tackled trying to develop the motor skills to play on even a rudimentary level.

I've got an All Access subscription to TrueFire, so about 10 days ago, I started working through a bass course, "30 Beginner Bass Grooves You Should Know." I'm about twelve grooves deep right now, and I'm really enjoying it. It's such a fundamentally different experience from guitar. They may look like similar instruments, but I didn't expect how different my approach to playing would be. I feel like it's more like playing the drums than it is playing the guitar.

I'm a long-time member of TDPRI, a telecaster-focused forum, and someone over there recommended that I check out talkbass. So, here I am. I'm looking forward to learning from everyone here.
