I just joined talk bass today and am looking forward to learning all that I can here. I have been playing bass for 22 years on and off. I started on bass in 1984 because my brother played guitar and I wanted to be in a band, so bass was my first instrument.
After playing the bass for 10 years I decided to take up the guitar more seriously because I couldn't find anyone in my small town that was interested in seriously making music. I wanted to be able to play both instruments myself. To make a long story short(er), I bought an 8 string bass about a month ago which has totally renewed my love for the bass, and allows me to play within both the bass and guitar range. So, I just wanted to get started playing the bass more seriously again and thought this is the ideal place to get tips and learn all of the new technology related to bass.
