help a noob finish his brown bass blue

Ok, let's pretend like I'm 5. I've got a warmoth deluxe 5 here

Now, without goin to true paints/poly coats, can I refinish it in a trans blue or green? I'm thinking colors that look good over a darker wood, like on the back of my warwick no?

Anybody help a clueless guy decide what to use and how to use it? forgive my ignorance if you can

Is the brown bass stained?

If it is, you can sand it off and re-stain it whatever color you want. If it's naturally dark brown (like walnut), then you'll have a very hard time making it blue without paint. It looks like walnut to me. That warwick is ash, which is a very neutral colored wood. It can be dyed or stained just about any color. Walnut is less forgiving.

That bass looks like Ash or Limba, if so, you should be able to sand it back and stain it the color you want using an analine dye, or oil based all in one stain such as minwax.

I know it's not in the spirit of the thread, but that bass looks really great just like it is.

Since it's ash, you can easily sand it down and stain it again. The nice thing about what you have is that the grain has already soaked in the dark brown so when you sand it down and stain it, the grain will really pop through the finish.

Alright. Sanding down and refinning with a stain/oil in one sounds good to me. But I'll hold back for a little while and see if the walnut stain grows on me...I don't know. Its just kind of boring in my opinion
