Can I plug a bass directly into a Behringer MDX 2600 multicompressor? Some say no..others say yes.
Current signal flow is Yamaha Attitude bass.
P p/u into one side of Mdx > Ampeg BSP preamp > Active input Hartke LH1000.
Woofer p/u into other side of MDX > Korg Rack Tuner > passive input of LH1000.
Also running at 4db setting on the mdx. Should I be using the -10db setting instead?
It seems to be working ok. Just need to clear up the issue of plugging directly into the comp or not.

Rackmount gear is almost always designed for low-impedance, line level signals. The output from a passive bass is high-impedance 'instrument level' signal. Conventional wisdom says plugging a passive instrument into a low-impedance input will lessen your treble response (maybe not a problem for the 'woofer pickup', eh?) and may not have enough signal level - which could be a problem with a compressor. Is the signal hot enough to actually trigger the compression? Are you getting the 'gain reduction' LEDs to light on loud peaks?
