help - best affordable amp

hi

i'm looking for a second hand bass amp for around 160 pounds but if the bass is really good ill go up to 200 pounds on ebay. need some advice as this is my first goodish amp which i will need to play small and medium sized gigs so needs to be quit loud. or should i save up (not preferable).PLEASE HELP ME, cheers

Yes, you should continue saving. At your current budget, all you'll get is a small combo amp. If you want a gigable bass rig, think 300 watts and a 4x10. Good luck.

For your budget though I reckon you could get a Peavey cab and Trace Elliot head that will suit well for gigging. Don't expect them to look pretty though.

yeh, went too dawsons music shop recently ( a local shop) and tried some out in there. i was surprised they worked really well

Rent and/or go direct until you save enough gig pay to invest in something worthwhile. ...starting with your very own Countryman DI. Then a Peavey TNT or GK 800RB atop a cab of your choice.

I think unbridled meant Acoustic as in the manufacturer Invalid Link Removed. There aren't any dealers in the UK.

what do you think, a Behringer BXR1800H Bass Head (which got ten out of ten in reviews on here) and a peavy 115TVXEX cabinet or a peavy 1820 cab. would be about 240 pounds. any better ideas?

Consider Hartke (3500)

I was recently trying to do similar - I had a ceiling of $500. I only got to use it once because a "too-good-to-pass-up" deal presented itself on some TC Electronic gear, but it would get the job done.

I put this together for $300 (so less than 200 UK Pounds)

If you look in the classified section of the forum, you can gauge some prices. The 3500 can be found for around $100-150 (so ~65 UK Pounds up) with a little looking around.
