Help choosing strings

Hey everyone, thanks for opening this thread! So I would love some help choosing strings, rather than have to try all of them out and spend a fortune doing so...

A couple of things worth noting
* I did several searches on here and I did learn a lot but still have a bit of a doubt.
* I'm not a fan of extremely bright strings.

Here's where I'm at right now -

Copper flatwound strings: sound too mellow, punch/growl is lost, worst is the feel as I find it a bit difficult to move my fingers quickly as they feel quite "rubbery".

Nickel roundwound strings: gave me eczema almost immediately so I had to stop using them, too much string noise, feel a bit rough on the fingers.

I'm curious about pressurewound strings. Would these be a happy middle between flatwound coppers and roundwound nickels? Any other suggestions?

In case it matters, we play mostly rock/grunge covers, and I play mainly an EBMM Stingray. Thanks!

Sounds like you may be allergic to nickel.

Something you should know is GHS Pressurewounds (and Ken Smith Compressors) have a nickel-iron alloy (aka alloy 52) for the outer wrap wire so that may or may not cause problems for your skin. That being said, they might be a good choice for you if you want a round-ish tone but without a lot of zing.

Rotosound makes a set called solo bass, which are compression wound, but stainless steel. Moe Foster does a demonstration of these, which you can find on youtube.

I'll vouch for the GHS Pressurewounds but, as @michael_t pointed out, how your skin will react to them is unknown.

I will also recommend GHS Pressurewounds . Good Highs without the Zing and smooth and deep lows with nice articulate mids.

If you skin reacted to certain materials, tapewound strings might be best choice. They are obviously not extremely bright and these days you can choose white tapes which aren't dark/mellow sounding.

You better check if that is allegies so you can roll out that type for good. There a lot of non-nickel roundwounds out there.
I like the Rotosound Swing Bass 66, they have nickel or stainless steel
