help getting right Preamp

I did some research but didn't find my answer.
I am looking for a preamp that would work with a baby bass magnetic pup, and if possible also with a regular bass.
so I just got this baby bass and did a search in the DB forum about preamps, and people seems to recommend preamps with a higher input impedance for DB pickups.
so to be hones I don't even know how the magnetic pup of a baby bass works, and don't know if it would be similar to a piezo pup.
I saw a few DB preamps with a 10 meg ohm input impedance, and I was checking the specs of the 3 leaf audio enabler.
the enabler has an input impedance of 2 meg ohm, and he claims that works with DB and electric bass.
id like to get a punchy preamp if possible, not too transparent.

I'm no expert but the Baby Bass pickup appears to be a straight, single coil pickup so it will work well with any preamp made for an electric bass. Here is a thread about it which does not really address your questions but you may be able to contact the contributors to get more information. A visit to the Schaller website is not all that helpful either, howeverHere is a thread about itdoes have a bit more information about it. In particular they give you some guidance about which strings will work well with it. Most DB pickups are piezo which do want a special preamp with a high input impedance so that is why all the DB chatter recommends a high impedance preamp. A magnetic pickup will work fine with the input impedance of a standard BG preamp so if you have a "punchy" BG preamp in mind it should work for you.

I guess it will be a matter of trying preamps I think.
The only preamp I have is theMXR M80
Works ok with my bass guitars when I wanna fool around with distortion.
But wasn't crazy when used for the baby bass.
