!Help! Hartke HA5500 + Hartke Hydrive 410 problem

Hello

I recently bought a Hartke HA5500 and a Hydrive 410 cabinet separate (second hand).
I'm experiencing a serious problem. When i plug everything in and turn the power from the head on, i can hear myself playing very quiet for about a second and the fan turns really hard. And then the fuse blows. I brought my head to a store for repair last week, got it back today. Bam, same problem, fuse isn't blown yet but i'm to scared to try it again.

I have no idea what i'm doing wrong.
The cables i use are:
1x Klotz SC-1SP02SW speaker cable and for my bass a Monster Cable CLAS-I-21

It sounds to me like the repair shop didn't fully test the head. If there is no speaker load on the amp or instrument plugged in then all that happens is it idles.

Very likely they simply turned it on, let it idle, and when it didn't shut down they deemed it repaired.

The problem could be in the preamp section , possibly a bad 12 AX 7 preamp tube. This would explain the short low volume then fan on, amp shutdown. If it was bad but not blown out it may be drawing ever higher current as it warms but not feeding the output stage.

The other case may be a bad output stage component. Again without input and a speaker load it wouldn't manifest itself.

Try replacing the preamp tube. If that isn't the issue then the worst you've done is purchased a spare tube.

If the tube swap fails then you need to find a competent repair tech or ship the head directly to Samson/Hartke for service.

Honestly, In my opinion you should either get it fixed and sell it then get the Ampeg SVT 4 pro head and a ampeg 810 cab. I personally think ampeg is the best workhouse bass rig out there.
