Help? I need a new strap.

do your self a favor and check out MOODY'S she makes an awesome strap.

Well, like I said before (in the OP), I won't pay over $100 for a strap. I'm sure her straps are quality and she sure looks good modeling them but I just can't make sense out of paying over $100 for a strap. That just sounds a bit crazy to me. I have looked at her straps but the price is just outside my comfort zone.

Good luck with the Neotech strap. I've just ordered the Mono from a supplier in BC, Canada. I should receive it in just over a week. I'd be glad to pass on my impressions of it.

+1. Got 2 of 'em, one for the 5-string and one for the P. Very comfy. Also the only design I've ever seen that uses 2 strap button holes on each end. The outer one goes over the inner one making its own strap lock. Way cool, highly recommended.

I have one and just bought two more and I'm selling my Comfort Strapps (used to have 3). 3" inches wide, padded almost the whole way through, insanely adjustable and very firm feeling. I dig the neoprene padded straps but some can get bouncy and when it bounces it can shift position. Not a big deal when your in your basement practicing but annoying as hell when it happens in the middle of a performance. I don't really move around all that much either. The best part? I just bought two for a grand total of $36.xx (shipping included). All these other straps are $30+ without shipping and do just about the same thing.

What I'm concerned about: It seems pretty slippery. I wonder if it's going to wander on my shoulder. Neoprene is notoriously HOT so I'm a concerned about my shoulder getting too hot and with sweating a lot. Also, I can see the web belt runs the length of the strap (under the neoprene) which is great for strength and longevity but, as Jimmy commented on earlier, I wonder if I will start to feel it dig through. One other possiblity, the button holes are ginormous on this thing (I could probably put my thumb through it) so I can imagine a bass falling off of this strap if a player isn't careful

All non- issues. I have several and love them. Not as grippy as leather, but certainly not slippery. It holds your bass in place quite well but will allow you to move it without pulling your shirt out of your pants, which is good IMO.
Not 'hot.' But warmer than leather, a little. Nice thing though- if you do sweat there, the material allows the sweat to dissipate as it's somewhat porous, unlike leather, which will cause a puddle on your shoulder and dye your shirt black.
The web does not dig in at all.
The strap holes are actually too small as delivered for most strap lugs. The ends are ultra-tough and thick leather.

Additional pluses: you can actually adjust it while wearing it, even UP, once you figure it out. And once adjusted, the buckle will never slip.
The neoprene has a springy quality to it, which I personally like a lot. You can actually grab your bass and push it down a couple of inches while wearing it. This isn't especially useful but I like it.
My first one has lasted over 2 years so far with lots of gigs and no apparent wear.
The best strap I've tried, but I haven't tried the others in the list, except for the Levy's ones, which are OK in my book but not as good as the Mega.

funny enough, I just picked up a lightly used Fender vintage modified jazz. With Dimarzio pickups, hard case & strap included. I thought the strap would be just a cheap generic. Turned out to be one of those 3" Planet Waves. I won't have use for it, so I was going to throw it up on a craigs list type site for $10-$15 CDN. Maybe I should keep it around in case a TBler wants a deal on a two month old one. They sound pretty good from what you've said

Thanks. That's good to hear. So far, I'm enjoying it. In fact, funny thing is I told myself, "Let's give this a try and see how it feels." No sooner did I strap the bass on and start playing than I forgot I had the strap on. With my other leather one, I'd have to slide it back and forth on my shoulder while playing to keep it in a semi-comfortable spot. This new Neotech strap, I didn't even notice!

When I was done playing, I took the bass off and thought, "Oh yeah! I had the new strap on. I was going to see how it felt." I guess it was pretty comfortable because I didn't even notice it. That's how a strap should be in my opinion. Still, I know there are some other very comfy straps out there. I'm still interested in trying out one of the Mono GS1 straps one of these days.

2 basses and only 1 strap...I need a 2nd strap anyway.

I've got a couple of Italia Straps and they're awesome.

Can't argue with value for money like that. I've just ordered two 4" straps - they're rather spiffy with the azure and red backing.
