I’ve been digging through old threads trying to perhaps find a compillation of tension/pull weight info for bass strings. Anyone know of a resource like that? BTW, Ii’s a mess with every conversation under Strings conflating string tension and flexibility. There should be a call out in the sticky just for that.
I recently got a medium 32” bass cheap from Japan, but the neck is weak. The truss moves, but the wood is a bit soft. My luthier recommended strings with low tension/pull weight. I ususally play stiff medium gauge round and flat strings from Ernie Ball, but I am open to whatever might give me the best chance of keeping the neck, within reason. For example, I use a pick 2/3rds of the time, and tape wounds just get shredded. Not a fan.
