I've recognized that there are quite a few highly skilled bassists on this forum.
I wonder if any of you can help me identify my instrument.
I recently bought an old German/Czech (?) upright in Norway. This bass has no label inside, but the previous owner told me that it was 50-60 years old. He himself had used it for 25 years in a symphonic orchestra, mainly arching it.
The bass has quite a few dings and marks, making it obvious to have been used for some years.
Inside the instrument we can see that some minor cracks has been professionally repaired with small patches. In one of the images it seems to have a large crack on the back, but this is only glare in the photograph. No damage to the back.
The setup is almost perfect for pizzicato, and it has a nice, warm sound.
I post some images of the beast here, and hope some of you can tell me a little more about it.
Very thankful for any help!
