Help identify this fender

I was at practice tonight and I brought my Kona Exotic 5 string that I got a few weeks ago with me to try it out. a Buddy of mine was there and really like it he offered to trade me his old fender fretless. He said he hated fender basses. I remember when his mom bought this bass for him off a guy they knew about 18 years ago. I was shocked so I said are you sure, and he said yeah, that he loved the way my five string played. I was trying to figure out what year it is. as far as i can tell its a 77, 78 neck but I dont know about the body, someone has put a Jazz pickup in it and some crazy toggle switches. I dont have the experience to identify it. Alls I know is that it is a precision neck and body. I dont even know if its a real fender or a fake.

Modified you lose some value but I've seen good condition ones go for $1400-2000. The serial says 77. Check out the pot and pickup date codes. The neck date is hard to read, it's mostly faded, but for a rosewood fretless P from 77 it should be an 8 digit in the format MMNNWWYD (model, neck, week, year, day). A precision is 01, the neck could be 00 or 01, followed by the week year and day.

Thanks. I checked and the pots are original so is the neck. The only reason I ask was that I think I'm going to trade it but had no idea the worth of it. It plays great sounds great, but I'm not a fretless guy I guess.

Does this look right to anyone?
