Hope I'm in the right forum, but has anyone seen one of these bridges before? I got it with a bass I recntly purchased and I wouldlike to know what it is for? Thanks

Help identifying vintage bass bridge

Do you need it install this on your new purchase to render it playable? If not, I'd throw it in my parts bin for the time being.

Thanks, no, I don't need it, but the shop I bought it from told me it was the original bridge, which I know isn't true. The bass still has the wrong bridge on it, it's some kind of Guild bridge. I originally bought it for the pickups, but now I'm starting to like it and I'm thinking it might be a fun project .
I have some issues to work through on this bass to get it right. I'd like to find someone who knows a lot about these old H8's. I'm wondering if it came from the factory white, too.

I'm wondering if it came from the factory white, too.Well, found a similar bridge on the Bay and it's described as a "Zim-Gar" Teisco. so maybe that's what this is. Never heard of "Zim-Gar" before???
I had a ZimGar MIJ electric 6 string as a kid. It was a POJ so I upgraded to a Lafayette J bass.
I really like the Guild bridge on that bass. Does it dial-in okay?

Well, it is ok if I use it as a 4 string, but to put the bass back to an 8 string I would have to drill 4 more holes in it and I'm guessing the added strings would need their own saddles, so I need to add a bar with 8 separate saddles to replace what's on there now? I think if I could find the bar, I could fabricate the rest if I had to. I have an H8 I bought in 1969 to refer to. BTW, my 1st bass was a 1967 Diamond hollow body MIJ, it was as big as me!
That bent metal monstrosity is cut for 8 string. Why don't you do a trial re-install?

This bridge will be hard to find. But unless you have a project that requires this sound, it is well worth waiting. eBay and Reverb are your friends for this task.

Yes, thanks for the pics. I actually still have a red 2nd run H8 that I bought new in 1969 to refer to. If I can't find a bridge, or if they are all ridiculously priced, I might just make a few out of stainless. I'd like to find another set of those pickups though.
