good basses need good amps. What do you have to plug that $1300 future bass into? If you don't have good amplification then you might consider cutting your budget in two. You can get a nice used bass for 600 to 700 dollars. Then buy a nice used amp rig.

since its fairly new to you, would be great if you can find out what type of music or needs do you want in your bass etc, since that's not a little money too, so make sure you get something you want to keep and work with
