Help me choose a bass

I will not be able to try these out, because I live in THE middle of nowhere, and no music store around here sells anything decent.

I am not a very good bassist, I have only been playing for a few years.

I figure, though, that anything is better than a broken Korean Fender JB.

My options are:
Warwick Corvette STD ash active-$650
Warwick Corvette STD bubinga passive-$550
Possibly Warwick Thumb-$850
USA Peavey Millennium-$600

I like to slap. :hyper: And funk. I love funk. But funk is a mindset, not a sound. I also like jazz.

The Warwicks are all new enough to be the baseball necks everyone is talking about, but I think I like the feel of a solid neck.

What would you recommend based on price and sound?

Thanks!

Like you, I live in the middle of nowhere, only has access to a crappy music store, and hasn't been playing very long. After much research, I recently got an active bubinga vette std, and I love it to pieces. From what I've heard, it's much better sounding than the ash, and more versatile than the thumb. So yeah... the bubinga vette std gets my vote for sure. Just be prepared for the weight, they're pretty heavy...
