Help me date this Ampeg Portaflex

A friend of mine brought me this Portaflex rated at 30 watts!!

I plugged it and it works!!! Although it is missing the knobs and it looks beaten up, both channels works and all features are working perfectly!

It only has a little of humming when I am not playing!

I plugged it to my trace elliot 1518c and it sounds old school with my fender Jazz

What can you tell me about it???

This Amp is even older than that faceplate.

I did see that they now have rear panels for the SVT at fliptops.

Worn, but it doesn't look that old. It has grounded cord and grounded outlet on the back.

MTI bought Ampeg in 1980, I would guess that this is late 70's.

The faceplate sedan_dad put up is an older style than yours. The guys that sell those faceplates (fliptops) will have nice repro knobs for you amp if you're interested.

yep, mid-late 70's, 74-79 to be exact. used to have one just like it...except mine looked a lot better and cost way more. i would clean that puppy up, get some period correct knobs for it from www.fliptops.net, and try to find an orphaned b-15n cab for it on ebay or have bruce at fliptops build you one. watt for watt, best amp ever.

Well, I am in the crossroad... Either I keep it and start to order knobs, faceplate and maybe a cabinet, Or sell it forward.
