Hi guys,

I have an Ashdown Mag C210, from before it turned EVO II status....... My issue is that the speakers have gone in it. It's distorting massively and is just generally sounding bad! :mad: SO, what I 'd like to know is...

What speakers would be best to replace my Bluelines? I've read some other threads about this but would like some more help.
I need it to sound fat with some good punchy-ness in there. I play punk/rock type music loud so need something good!

Best replacements are the ones designed to fit that cab, and for best results, (after putting in 2 new ones, OR re-coning the 2 you have), is to ADD another 210 to what you've got. Loud, punchy bass, requires more than a pair of 10's.

thanks for the tips, i don't want to buy more bluelines as i dont like them and want to upgrade. specifically, what speakers should i get? i've looked at eminence delta 10's and they look quite good? are they?

Delta 10's in the wrong box will sound like poop. Speakers are not like pickups, where if it fits in the hole it will do a similar job. Speakers are picky in how they are utilized. My suggestion, take the rig to a good amp tech, Makes sure that it's the speakers and not some other issue, replace what needs replaced with OEM components and sell it to fund the search for a new rig. Don't you deserve a rig that sounds good from the manufacturer, and not one you have to swap out components on to get the sound you are looking for?

If you really want to swap the speakers, start with getting the internal measurements of the box and calculating the cubic feet of air inside. This number is important to knowing which speakers would work well with your box. Then you have to get speakers that are the correct resistance to from a load that the head will work well with. Try to get speakers that have a high sensitivity rating for greater volume per watt.

This advice alone is not enough to get you ready to go, read up on other threads on TalkBass about speaker swaps and try to get the guru's to help in the quest, but make sure you have done your homework first.

Or just get the pig checked out and then sell it. Acme makes a killer 2x10

A 4x10 will outclass any production 1x15 in every way. If you look at the power handling of the cabinets the 1x15 will typically have way less than the 4x10. That means that while the 4x10 is cruising along the 1x15 is crying out for mercy. If you MUST use this pairing put the 1x15 on the top so you have a chance of hearing its distress.

Usually that's the case, but from what I've seen of BlueLine specs they're really quite poor.

And the first step to finding the right driver is precise cabinet interior dimensions. Then you need to consider how much power will be used, to determine desired response and displacement. There's far more to the process than inches and watts.
