I'm going to start a warmoth project this summer. Its going to be a crossbreed between P bass and thunderbird. P body and neck in mahogany and Lindy Fralin bassbuckers.

can anybody help me with placement for the two pickups. I want them to placed just like in thunderbirds. Or could i just tell them to rout the cavities where j-bass pickups normaly are placed?

Warmoth makes a T-Bird style body so maybe they know where to route for the pickups? I'd ask them first.

That P-bass is going to weigh a ton and a half.

Get a real thunderbird and measure between the bridge plate and the bridge pickup. The measure from that to the next one. Voila, you have your measurements.

The last I checked, Warmoth did not make mahogany necks. USACG does, however, and apart from being the bass parts builder favored by a lot of folks, their necks are reinforced with graphite - rather than steel bars. I believe that will save some weight. They also offer considerably more options as to neck widths, radius and other specs than Warmoth. http://www.usacustomguitars.com/ :smug:
