HELP: Multiple Wireless IEMs in One Rack?

Yeah....fests are usually tough due to the huge artist rotation. We usually buddy up to the sound man early and try to get what we want. Sometimes they will oblige other times not.

We are usually playing with venue PA's, probably 75% of the time, but when we do get to use our own.....it's like heaven. Other than the extra work of moving and setup. :( This Saturday we will use ours as we are doing a private party....can't wait.

Good luck with it man!

What does IEM mean and what's it stand for? All this talk is completely new to me. Is there a helpful and informative thread about all this??

IEM in an acronym for In Ear Monitor(s). As in the ear buds you see on your favorite music stars live or on TV. They can be of the wireless variety (using a beltpack receiver) or of the hard-wired (meaning not wireless but having a cable connected) version.

We play bar gigs, so we'll be close to our gear. In fact, we run sound ourselves (presonus 16.4.2 and iPad) so we keep all our gear on stage. I'm going to route all of the antennas to the front and space them out rack wise and stagger them left to right to avoid any chance of them touching. If we have any issues, I'll get the UHF antenna you recommended.

My plan is to get everything set up and test it this weekend at our regular practice. Thanks to all of you for the opinions/advice!

I am also a Presonus/iPad user! Everyone in my band has purchased their own iPad and wireless IEM rig and if your earbuds suck.....tough! You made them that way! As a live sound engineer and also the GM for a large audio-video system installation company, I am SICK TO DEATH of fixing other people's sound and monitor problems! So when I get to play, I don't want to do a damn thing besides play! So we use self powered JBL PRX boxes for mains with the Presonus and life has never been sweeter for a weekend warrior!

I couldn't agree more! It's amazing to me that no matter how much time during sound check we spend, they complain about their monitor mix. And it's always my fault. Yeah, I'm sorry that every time you step on one of your 36 pedals it totally changes your volume/EQ setting despite the fact that I've told you a dozen times you have to normalize your gain across pedals. I'm also sorry that you refuse to wear any type of hearing protection and your already damaged hearing gets worse over the course of the night. Yep, totally my fault for buying a really flexible mixing board and giving up my sound check time to help you.

Old thread here...
I've got an in a new Sennheiser IEM system, the Shure GLDX guitar system, and an older Senn EW100G2 mic in a single rack- along with my gkmb800. Other than the mic, it's been pretty darn flawless. With the mic, I'm upgrading to see if a newer one will be less prone to RF interference. I was getting what sounded like a 60 cycle hum off of the mic. Having things in a rack has made setups SO much easier. I'm in multiple bands and the rack is super for getting out of the hall quickly. Stil, it would be better with the mic being as clean as it can be. As far as festivals and IEMS, the sound guys love them.

AFAIK, the EW100G2 is G-Band... that may NOT be the best band for your area.
