Also, for the Japan fluffy pop stuff, it's all about what is pop. Drake, Taylor Swift et al have their virtues, but I wouldn't consider them "rocking". Japan actually has a long history of crazy underground/experimental music: Boredoms, Merzbow, and one of my favorite bands, the kings of low end, Boris. Going to one of their shows is like getting an internal massage. Also check out the super rad guitar/bass combo. How dude rocks that every night without throwing his spine is a mystery to me:
