Double Bass HELP NEEDED VIBRATING Bb

was at a recording session with my band when various notes on the upright bass started vibrating

open a (when bowed)
Bb on G and high Bb on G (thumb position)

i found i could fix the vibrations a bit by sticking a towel to the right f hole. (right hole when playing and looking down)
hoping to get this fixed as soon as possible wondering if there's anything i could do myself without taking it in to a luthier

its probably a wolftone.

it hasn't happened before... it was just out of the blue... something changed

I believe I remember someone posting not too long ago, in which they mentioned a slippage of the sound post is related to wolftones popping up. I'll see if I can find the post: in the meantime, if there is a relationship then I imagine it could happen very quickly.

Also the weather is changing this time of year. Check for cracks or opem seams.

Sometimes wolftones develop over time. Try having someone hold the tailpiece while your playing. If the extra vibrations go away then you might consider getting a wolftone eliminator.

It doesn't sound like a wolf to me, although it wouldn't hurt to check the soundpost. Ner the less, I'm with fingers - Look carefully for a old crack opening up or a seam opening.

Check for f-hole wing crack(s).
