Hey all I need a little help on determining the value of my Roscoe Beck V.

Should I sell it or keep it? Since it has been discontinued is this a good thing for value or a bad thing?

Anyone know how much it is worth I can't find to many anywhere for reference. Talkbass only has a couple ADs and they are not much help because they were before the bass became obsolete.

Oh another thing I have to confess is I'm not much of a player, just dabble. So the bass is new in the case with the original strings.

So keep it or sell guys and gals? Discontinued good or bad?

How much is it worth?

The bass will appreciate slowly overtime. At some point, they will jump in value but there is a lot of new stock out there even though Fender has stopped producing them. Too bad, it's a very nice bass with lots of usable tones.
If you are thinking of holding it for investment purposes... reconsider.
Check Ebay or craigslist as suggested.

You lost me on "reconsider", you think I should hold on to it?

Also where is all this new old stock? I can't find a single 5 string for sale new? I can find the 4 stringers though.........

I think what he is saying is that virtually no bass is likely to appreciate in value enough to justify keeping it "as an investment". It's a crapshoot, big time.

If you like the bass, keep it. If you don't like it, sell it.
But don't keep it because you think it will be worth a lot more down the road. The likelihood is that it won't be.

Each pickup is essentially a pair of J pups in a "side by side" configuration to create a humbucking pup.

Coil selection is done via mini-toggle switches, as per the Fender website:

3-Position Blade Pickup Selector Switch:
Position 1. (Bridge Side), Bridge Pickup
Position 2. (Middle), Bridge and Neck Pickups
Position 3. (Neck Side), Neck Pickup

2-Mini-Toggle Coil Selector Switches.
Mini-Toggle Switch 1:
Position 1. (Bridge Side), Both Coils of Neck Pickup in Series Humbucking
Position 2. (Middle), Front Coil of Neck Pickup
Position 3. (Neck Side), Both Coils of Neck Pickup in Parallel Humbucking
Mini-Toggle Switch 2:
Position 1. (Bridge Side), Both Coils of Bridge Pickup in Series Humbucking
Position 2. (Middle), Front Coil of Bridge Pickup
Position 3. (Neck Side), Both Coils of Bridge Pickup in Parallel Humbucking

Push/Pull Mid-Shaping Tone Switch/Pot

Thanks to all for the advice, I have a guy coming to pick it up for another guy out of state.

Not sure if it will show up on talkbass as a "new toy" thread. I am selling most of my stuff because I finally realized I can't play all that great and riding dirt bikes and sprained wrist don't mix with playing guitar or bass anyway.

I am keeping one of everything, my 60th p-bass, my Yamaha drum kit and American Hss strat. All other stuff is going out the door to more deserving musicians for reduced prices as I'm not one to make a buck on something I don't use.......

I hope the new owner post on here, it would be cool to hear how he likes it and so forth.............

I own 2 of these and love 'em. My favorite Fender by far. 1200 or a touch above is the going rate for these in excellent shape with case. I got my 3-tone with custom and origional guards, original case and tag/strap etc for 1275. I also picked up a gold one off TB that had a repaired hairline crack around the B tuner for 775. To my knowledge this is the only 5er Fender has made with 19mm string spacing @ the bridge. I love passive electronics and the RBV has a very quiet, versatile setup.

Well I just sold mine for $900.00 bucks, I'm ok with it since I know the new owner will enjoy it. I think I paid 1,200 for it new a few years ago so I don't mind taking a little loss knowing it's going to be played and not sitting cased in the closet..
