Help please using a DI with IEM for first time

Will someone please tell me if the following method of connecting to a DI and using IEM correct?
1. Bass to DI.
2. DI to a Rolls PM
3. Rolls PM to FOH board.
4. FOH monitor to my Rolls PM.

I apologize in advance if this seems too rudimentary or if I should have posted elsewhere.
Thank you for your attention and responses.
S. Hill.

Depends upon which Roll PM you are using. If you are using a PM351 you don't need the DI. However you might want to run a preamp, EQ, or preamp/DI so you have some tone shaping capabilities at your finger tips.

Bass to PM351. This gives you the ability to adjust the volume of the bass on the PM351 and there is a thru to send the signal to FOH.

PM351 to FOH. You bass signal is then routed to everyone else's monitors and to the main PA speakers

FOH to PM351. A mix of whatever you want can be built at the mixing console and routed back to the PM351. There is also a "Line" level control on the PM351 for monitor return.

If you sing: Vocal Mic>PM351>FOH This allows you to adjust the level of you vocal mic directly on the PM351, and there is a thru to send the signal to FOH.

I guess my point is there may be more than one way to do what you want to do, depending upon your specific goals and equipment.

my question with the PM351 is about those XLR instrument outputs, whether they're affected by the instrument level control; if so then you'd have the issue of tweaking your headphone level and changing what FOH gets.

that part of the manual wasn't super-clear (and was also upside-down :bored:)

If you download the User Manual file and then open it, you can rotate the image in the View drop down menu.

The controls are used to balance the mix of the Mic, Instrument, and Line Inputs in the Headphone Outputs only. They do not affect any of the other outputs.

I don't know why, but the PM351 schematic doesn't seem to be available on the Rolls website anymore. I have attached it for your convenience.

The top part of the circuit is for the Instrument channels. The Instrument signal comes in on J2 and loops back out through the two unlabeled XLR jacks above J2 before the level controls P3A and P3B. P3A and P3B are ganged controls so, it's really just one stereo control.

The Mic circuit is next. Notice the two XLRs (J3 and J5) are male and female, and are connected in parallel. It's basically equivalent to a Y cable. The level control for the Mic channel is P1.

The Line Input comes in on J4. The level control for J4 is another ganged stereo control and it is labeled P2A and P2B.

J7 and J8 are the headphone outputs.

Hope this helps.

yep! thanks

so it looks like we have an active DI kind of jammed in there, dual XLRs off the instrument in, each driven by a transistor stage into its own transformer and separate from the level control. kinda cool, depending on the quality of said DI.
