Help! Sadowsky ME took a dive !

I've had some mishaps with cheapo stands until I realized that they were especially worthless for basses with offset bodies (Jazz, Jaguar).

Now, all my stands are Hercules or K&M with the little rotating gates at the top. Still possible to knock over, but much better.
You'll love rolled edges.

It is indeed roasted maple.
Roasted maple is hydrophobic, meaning it repels water and that makes it great for stability during humidity changes or for boat building which was its intended first use by the vikings. Or at least they are credited with the invention. That could make the steaming process difficult as the fingerboard wood will repel the steam.

Just to hijack the post. I had an Oh NO moment with a brand new G&L ASATIII back in the early '90s. I just placed the guitar in a stand, turned to someone speaking, and hooked a mic cable I hadn't seen. Gravity took over as things got out of reach fast. A nice nick between G & A right where my thumb will find it every time. Painful reminder. The guys at the rehearsal said swing by and see Roger in the morning ( this was before he/they moved to Brooklyn. They were a block away from me on 6th ). Roger was there saw that there was an emotional component to this repair that therapy might cure all these years later. He says to some kid, " Here's one right now! " I'm like, ***. It appears he was just going over the finer points of steaming wood fibers back to their original form; sponge, soldering iron. OOOO steel wool and a quick spray of lacquer. After the fix, not only could I not feel it, I can't SEE IT. I ask him how much. He goes "On the house. It was on the job training after all". Not too long thereafter, they moved to Dumbo. Sadowsky is awesome in my book.

Thanks everyone. It upsets me ( with myself). I heavily modded this bass. Installed Hipshot Tuners and Extended (Drop D ) tuner. Added VTC, and the Sadowsky noiseless pickups. Eventually wanted to put Hipshot Style A bridge in. It sucks because I take care of my gear. But these stands suck. Back to Hercules!
Sorry to bother you - but of all the upgrades you put into your bass, which ones made the biggest improvement?

No bother at all.
1. VTC , should be an option offered on all Sadowsky ME basses in my opinion. You need a tone control to work in active/ passive settings. The story goes that Roger feels the ME is a introductory bass. I agree somewhat, but I can name 5 pro players ( including myself) in Northern Ohio that use the MetroExpress basses. Years ago I owed a NY Sadowsky. Nice bass, but I liked my Nordy VJ4 bass more .
ME is a nice bass.
2. The upgraded pickups. Noiseless.
3. Hipshot tuners and Hipshot " Drop D" bass extender. Sadowsky tuners aren't bad, but they're not Hipshots.

I'd leave it alone and let natural wear do its thing. Don't skimp on guitar stands or gigbags. The Hercules stands work well. I'm not about to put an expensive instrument on a POS OnStage guitar stand.
Been a MONO gig bag guy for 15 -20 years. Even the MONO Stealth line is good. I still have my original MONO bag from 20 yrs ago and its still in great shape. Access bags are great as well.

Leave it alone?
It is in a spot that you will never feel under your fingers. Assuming it makes no difference to playability in that no frets were damaged or dislodged, my personal choice would be to leave well alone. It was sickeinging at the time, and it tool a few weeks to reconcile the 'No Further Action' decision, but my Corvette came off the stand a few years back and landed face down on top of a pint glass - all of the damage is between the strings in places that I can't feel and that don't interfere with anything, so the holes are still there (although I have removed the lump of glass and replaced the damaged strings) :
