Did anyone happen to listen to "When Autumn Falls," attributed to Charlie Haden and de Instrumentalia?
I fell in love with the 16-minute EP. It was released in late June. It appeared as a recommendation in Apple Music. Here's what the album looked like (attachments).
The melodies were slow and simple, but with perfect time, almost dragging. The instrumentation was likewise simple: bass, drums, saxophone, and something else I can't recall. I thought it was beautiful.
I went to listen to it for the tenth time and saw that it had been pulled from Apple Music. I searched elsewhere for it and found that it had been pulled from Spotify and apparently everywhere else.
The release date was 2025 (obviously not possible if Haden died a decade ago). The label is "Film Score Jazz," which I could not find anywhere on the Internet.
Then I looked up "de Instrumentalia" and their only other album ("Rasta Rendezvous") was released within a week or two of the "Haden" album. Totally different style -- polished, tropical, slick, boring. The thought crossed my mind that this album could have been A.I. generated. The record label is "8740637 Records DK" which comes from "distrokid.com" which appears to be a service to get your music placed on Apple Music and other services.
Did anyone else listen to "When Autumn Falls"? Did you think it was a real release? Did you think Haden could have been involved (or sampled)? Or was this too some sort of A.I. slop (that I actually loved)? I wish I could listen to it again because I really liked it. But its disappearance is a mystery.
(Plus, if this was A.I. generated, then why Charlie Haden? What an unlikely, arbitrary target.)
