OK, I've searched TB and the Fender site (as well as others). What I've determined doesn't make sense to me.
I have a Korean Squier II Precision Bass. The SN is S9344XX. According to all the sites and resources I've checked, Korean Squiers don't start with S (CN or VN). The SN matches the format for the US P Basses and would indicate that it was manufactured between 78-80. Is this accurate?
