18V preamps can cause this to some pedals that do not have an input pad (like the Zoom) its easily solved by turning down the volume on the bass itself and turning the amp up to balance it out. Make sure you are not boosting any frequencies too much on the bass preamp as well (like if you caught your mid knob and added 15db of 400hz thats going to distort!).
