Help with Cubase LE 5

Today my brother and I tried to lay down a few tracks using a condenser mic, and my bx500 with using the DI into an Alesis iO2, to Cuebase LE 5 (the free version that comes with the iO2). Does anyone have any experience with this type of set up?

I am using the asio4all driver for the Alesis. I can get the first input to record fine, but couldn't get the Di to record from the second input. We could hear it in the headphones perfect, but on play back, it was only picking up the bass from the cab from the mic.

dude,i hate to be the one to break this to you, but, there's an angry mob gathering on the internet(on other forums),pissed off by OBVIOUS problems between cubase LE and USB soundcards it goes with-vast majority of those(lexicon alpha, among others) DO NOT work well with cubase LE...which is absolutely ridicilous, 'cause you get the damn software with the card....
even presonus changed (few years back) their bundle that comes with audiobox-first it was cubase LE(still says so on the box xD),and problems occured, but now it comes with studio one artist, and, take it from me,works FANTASTIC..
I'm not saying your problem can not be fixed
i'm just saying you're DEF. not the first,so try googlin' other forums, you might pick up on stnhg.

Thanks. I might just end up buying a better/more intuitive software interface.

I did finally get it to work, but, I'm not a fan of Cubase. What I would really like to do is just get a Mac and just use garage band for my needs. But for now this is the best I got.

If anyone reads this and is having the same issue, be sure to add 2 audio tracks (one for each input). The be sure that the input routing is set to left - stereo In (or mono in) and Audio track 2 is set to right - stereo in (or mono in). I'm sure most of this is just me not understanding how everything works, but you would think that with getting bundled software, they could include a "quick start" guide or something. Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

Apparently from your last post, it was a track assignment issue, not a SW issue. You, as you found out, need to set up tracks as mono, not stereo, ahead of time. You can change that in Cubase after the fact, but for now, since you are learning, take it simple and slow.

GB has the same issue, but a better way of illustrating it. And audio is much easier to set up on a global level, in OSX.

Yup. I will definitely chalk this up to user error. It's very new to me and I usually don't get flustered with software, but I was just frustrated after our practice session yesterday, but determined to get it right and write it down for next time. Plus, I'll be setting everything up, ahead of time in the future.

Guess I should RTFM first. Thanks.
