Hi

i just wire up my bass with the BQC Hz control. I instal Them with fralin pickup (which is passive pickup)

My problem is the abc pot tin solder for soldering the pickup is tearing up and I can’t solder the hot for bridge. (Neck pu soldering tin on abc is fine)

my question is can I change the ABC blend pot with standard balance pot? Say mn250k?

Please advise

Yes, you can replace the ABC blend pot with a normal passive blend pot, like the MN250kOhm pot you mention.

Passive blends behave a little bit differently than active blends, since the passive circuit allows the pickups to interact with one another (LCR circuit), and the active blend buffers the pickups, which prevents this behavior. Neither is right or wrong, just a matter of what you like or don't like.

Output from your passive blend knob then goes into the normal input of your BQC.

But - why is your solder "tearing up"? Poor technique? Low temperature on your iron? That really shouldn't happen.

And even if it does, you can still solder an EMG header connector to your pickup wires, and then use the header pins on the ABC to connect it. This is how I usually do mine.
