Help with Musicman basses

Can anyone give me opinions on the Bongo, Stingray and Sterlings. I'm having a hard time making up my mind what to get. I like them all. I'm pretty sure I want to go with the HH pick ups but not really sure on that also. Your experience with them would sure help me make up my mind. I'm an old school rocker if that helps. No slapping etc just "old time R&R" blues, etc.

That HH sound... is on steroids, in a good way for R&R blues don't you think! I've only owned a sterling out of three you mentioned, however the bongo may have a little too much "active pump" for what you desire. Sterling is nice slimmer version of the stingray with some nice tonal sounds, with the preamp and switch selector. If you have no problem playing a fatter neck you might love the stingray. Fred

My first suggestion is to go with the HH version of either Stingray or Sterling,just for the extra tonal options.I use a Sterling H in my rock cover band,but the vairety band gets the Sterling HH.I'll use the traditional MM sound for the old school funk,and switch to a P-bass tone for the older country,or anywhere the more aggressive Music Man tone is a bit too much.Either way,you can't go wrong.If possible,take your rig into the store when trying the basses out to make sure it will work with your setup.

FWIW, You might also want to check out the Big Al.
It's pretty versatile with the 3 Neo single coils, active/passive switch, and a four-band preamp similar to the Bongo.

This is a "What's the best bass for....." thread.
I can tell you the HH Bongo is nice, I played one. Stingray is a classic sound, heard on thousands of records.
But you really need to go try them all- you might even find you don't like any of them.

HH Stingrays can give you a massive range of awesome tones, would definately fit any needs

Just try out the three and see what one you like the feel and tone of more?
