Help with simple wiring

For some reason i could not get the pickups to both work,i went with VVT to try them out and later i would wire up VBT.....i wired up the Aguilar DCB M5 it worked fine by itself.....but when i go with standard jazz bass wiring its just getting no sound or neck volume for a minute then no sound? The Bart has just a Clear(hot) and braid ground wire...the Aguilar has 2 ground wires a grey and black and a white(hot)....i used 3x 250k audio pots,capacitor ect..i included 2 manuals that came with each pickup in this post.....i used a standard 2 pickup jazz bass wiring...

Can you explain what you mean by that? If you turn one pickup all the way up, and the other all the way down, do you get sound? If you turn them both up, do you get sound?
I unwired everything, wired up just the Aguilar like the Aguilar schematic shows....at this point being that the aguilar is working is there a way to wire in the Bart to the other volume without disconnecting any Aguilar wiring, probably not im thinking?
 
Maybe this wiring would work..is there anything i would have to change, being the neck is a bart? Plus my particular model aggie has 2 ground wires not 1......

Yes you can use that diagram for your pickups. Connect the outer braid from the bart where the black wire(s) are shown (grounded). Connect the center wire where the white wire is connected.

For the Aguilar, connect the white wire where the white wire is shown on that diagram, and connect both the gray and black wires to ground.

Then plug it in. Test it with the neck volume on full and the bridge volume on zero. You should get sound from the neck pickup. Then test it with neck on zero and bridge on full, make sure you get sound from the bridge pickup. Then test it with both pickups on full. If it sounds good you're all set. If it gets really thin and weak sounding with both pickups on, swap the black and white wires on the aguilar and leave everything else alone.

When you say black and grey to ground,for the Aggie,back of neck pot?
 
You can ground them to anything that's grounded. All grounds are pretty much the same. If you have all of the pots grounded, you can connect those two wires to the back of any of the pots (or directly to the jack ground lug, etc)

The center wire,the bart clear,goes where yellow is on neck correct?
 
The Bartolini wiring schematic is also different, it shows the capacitor on the hot side? And braid wired to a terminal not back of pot...plus ground from jack to center tone pot?

In your original plan, you were going to wire everything as VBT, but then you changed your mind (at least for now) and are going to wire it VVT. Are you using the balance pot as a volume pot? Or did you get another standard pot to be your other volume control?
 
The location of the cap doesn't matter. Or, at least, it won't cause you to get no sound or incorrect performance from the volume controls. The two V-V-T diagrams you've posted on this page of the thread are basically the same in terms of how the volumes are configured and how they should work.

The Aguilar diagram up top shows ground symbols instead of actually drawing in all of the ground wires. Did you ground all the spots where the ground symbol is used? All you need to do is connect them all together (as shown by the actual wires in the Bartolini diagram).

To be honest it's a little hard to give specific help since it seems like you're changing direction and trying different things as you go. It might be easier if we can stick to one diagram and one plan and then figure it out.

Can you try the following three things and tell us what happens? I'm getting a little confused by the way you're describing what's happening.

1) Turn the neck volume all the way up and the bridge volume all the way down.

2) Turn the bridge volume all the way up, and the neck volume all the way down.

3) Turn both volumes all the way up.

Tell us what happens in each of those three and we can get a better idea of what's going on here. Once we know the volumes are set up correctly, then we can work on the tone pot if we need to.

No i wanted to test the pickups out, i dont have my mn balance pot yet.....used 3x 250k audio pots...i never had a problem wiring before , but always used sets from 1 company and used their schematic.

Neck volume all the way up nothing with bridge vol off.............i get bridge volume with bridge all the way up and neck off........... something funky with bart is my guess.....both volumes up i get nothing
 
Well disturbing news i figured out the issue,the pickup screw went through the bart harness....i knew i didnt like how they put the connections in the middle when i started, the wire bunches up underneath, unlike Aggie, they put the connection on the side near the route hole.......So new question, can i desolder the destroyed bart pickup wire and put a new one?

Yes you can remove that cable and solder on a new one. Either right at the pickup or cut it at the break and fix it there.
Well i have my pot(balance) and 2x 250k audio pots....i wired a black ground and a white hot from the pickup wire i busted, i scrapped the original wire....i will let you know if it goes good....gonna head home later and try new wiring..
