I just bought a used esp b105 as my first 5 stringer. The strings were nasty as crap so the first thing I did was try to install a set of lo-riders. GDAE went on with no probs but the B string (125) broke at the tuning peg before there was any tension on the string, I thought it was a lemon string so I got another and the same thing happened. I then tried a set of Ernie Balls and once again, no dice (130). It seems that the taper just starts to wrap around the tuning peg and thats why they are breaking. My solution was to get short scale strings but I cant find a 5 string set of shorts. Am I wrong in my quest? Do you guys have any other solutions?
