+w to what dincz said. Take the covers off the power amp and give it a good cleaning. Be careful not to damage anything of course. Best of luck to you.

Heat rises so an empty slot below the amp is not particularly helpful. It would be much more helpful to have the empty slot above the amp.
Maybe I missed something, but what is overheating??? You say "it" is overheating. What?

I agree Vince, however, if the power amp fan is venting out of either the front or the back it should be able to keep itself cool. That said, I do tend to leave a blank ventilated panel over my power amps. Doing so moves the power transformer away from small signal devices that could be affected by induced hum. this need, lately, has been somewhat negated by Switch Mode supplies.
If the amp has seen a lot of service, then a clean out such as advised by Dincz is a good course of action.
All of the above is predicated on the premise that it is the power amp that is shutting down.
the amp was overheating when I had the amp on the bottom of the rack. when I first bought it. having that empty space at the bottom seemed to alleviate that initially. I had already bought the fan before moving it up. It ran for a year before the gig that the fan did not turn on. I will look into the dust thing and yes both cabs say 8 ohms on them
If both cabs are 8Ω and you are running one from each channel, in parallel mono, then you should not be having any problems.
then thers is no reason for a thermal shutdown. Have the power amp looked at by a tech.
