Funny now, you hear about guitarists that are "better" than Hendrix or " can play his stuff easily".
But there is stuff toward the end of Machine Gun, from the same show as above, that I've NEVER heard anybody approach.
One of a kind player.
Although I hadn't listened to this in years…the stuff he was playing was very well remembered. I also liked the vocal solo by Buddy Miles…memories!
Hendrix has such a unique style and tone.
It must have been those coiled cords…
Machine Gun has always been one of the top electric guitar solos of all time to me, so much emotion packed in that solo!

Agreed. Every time I hear one of these "better" players try to imitate Hendrix it always comes out as sterile and completely lacking the soul of Hendrix' playing. Whenever a "guitar hero band" starts covering Hendrix is usually the right time to head for the door. Practially no-one gets it right (and when I say "right" I mean catching the vibe, rather than a perfect but soulless tone-for-tone rendition). I've seen scrappy punk/garage band do far more interesting Hendrix covers than some of these guitar heroes.
Plus, there's a rather big difference between playing a cover song and actually writing the stuff. Not to mention revolutionizing guitar playing. These "better" guitar players probably wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for Hendrix.
Hendrix was one of a kind and (I rarely use this word) a LEGEND!
Many can copy, few will innovate.

Billy Cox nails it here. Nothing against Redding, he's earned the respect he gets. But Billy is the man, all the way.
I went to the first show of four that weekend. Third and last time seeing Hendrix perform. Lucky I guess.

Peak Hendrix IMO. Had a friend describe Hendrix BOG as such: You know how red flames are hot? blue flames hotter? Jimi's heat was beyond white hot, invisible!
Buddy Miles is a little too ham-fisted for my tastes compared to Mitchell who's more of a finesse drummer. I'd miss Buddy's vocals if the line were any different tho.
