I haven't looked at the neck you're refering to, but you need to continue the spiral all the way to the other end of the string. The bridge points must be at different elevations like on the bass in the OP.

Supposedly a fanned fret neck is pretty natural for a lot of people to actually play. Maybe this design will feel natural to some people.
