Hey Mod's...What about Music specific forums?

I don't know how it works over in DB, but it seems to me that this would be confusing in some ways. If you wanted to post something about plucking techniques for death metal, for example, would you post it in the "Technique" forum or the "Death Metal" forum? If you wanted to post something about a death-metal bassist, would you post it in "Bassists" or "Death Metal"? Likewise, if you're interested in reading about such specific topics, which forum should you follow? It's already difficult enough sometimes to determine whether a particular topic belongs in, say, "Technique" vs "General Instruction," or in "Bassists" vs "Recordings," and it seems to me this would just make things even more complicated.

And most important, what would be the best forum for finding out what's the best bass for metal?

There's been a series of threads in the "Bassists" forum titled "Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread..." for as long as I can remember. The current version is subtitled "....Part 90" (!), so it appears to be pretty successful, and it seems to function essentially like a general forum for folks interested in that genre (those genres?). Anyone who wants a "forum" for a particular genre can just start a similar thread for that genre. I don't see why having a separate forum per se is either necessary or better.

Not surprised. There are many forums that do it and have allot of sub forums managed well. To bad it would be cool to be music specific with others.

There needs to be a lot of active, regular threads on a subject to warrant a subforum, or it needs to be so different that it really doesn't fit in an existing one. The more subforums there are for more and more specific things, the less readers each subforum has (including less passerby traffic), which leads to a dearth of discussion and can make forum "ghost towns." Less popular subjects actually get more viewers/discussion in larger forums than they would in their own forums.

Just make a metal forum already. It'll filter that stuff away from you guys, and give us a place to go.
