Hello everyone! My name is Eve-Simone Pastor, and I live in Wilmington, DE. I’m back to playing the double bass after a break of a few decades. I started at age 9 and was “serious” about it through my late teens. I studied with Joelle Fancher, John Hood, and Larry Hurst. I won a competition and played a movement from the Dittersdorf with the Philadelphia Orchestra at two concerts when I was 13. That was the highlight of my musical career! I got a BM at IU when I was 15, a MM when I was 16 and then did my doctoral coursework before switching things up and becoming a CPA. I got kind of burned out from music school and didn’t even want to listen to music for years since all I could hear was the mistakes. I’m finally coming out of that and able to enjoy music again. This time playing the double bass I hope to stay injury free since I struggled with carpal tunnel and tendinitis the first time around. I started playing again on December 12 and posted some videos on YouTube at @ bass bass2024. My bass is currently in the shop being repaired and I can’t wait to start playing again once it is fixed. I’d like to reconnect with the double bass community including people I went to Indiana University with in the 1990s as well as make new friends. I kept coming across this forum when I would Google something about the double bass so I figured I’d participate. Thanks!
