I've been lurking in the background here for a while and thought it was about time that I piped up and said hi.
I've been playing bass for about 10 years and started with a bit of boring old guitar before that, ;-) as a youngster.
Did the whole garage band thing through high school and moved into a couple of casual rock bands after that. They never really went anywhere other than the local RSL clubs, Uni bars etc. In the end, people got married etc and that was the end of that.
I've been out of the scene for about the last 3-4 years and after selling the majority of my gear for a house deposit, (except my first ever Ibanez bass) i've finally saved enough to pickup some new gear and get back into it again.
I 've met some friends of a friend and we got talking one day and it turns out that they are after a bassist for a band they were putting together. So I'm pretty excited about dusting off the ol Ibanez (for now) an brushing up again. Only been at it a couple of days and things are going pretty well. Thought that I would have found it a bit weird to get back into after a few years, but it's felt very natural so far...
As for my gear hunting,...I've been doing some searching on ebay and i'm sorry to say that there is little in the way of amps and cabs for sale in Aus. Will keep looking/searching though! Have to say that I do enjoy looking and browsing, reading gear reviews etc! I'm amazed at how much great gear there is for sale in the US on ebay!
I look forward to sharing some thoughts and ideas with you over the next while, and getting some tips too.
